IE Pop-Up Solution

Here’s the solution to Phil’s question “Internet Explorer displays a pop-up saying this page contains both secure and nonsecure items. How do I permanently keep this box from popping up?” (From Podcast 11)

From the IE menu select Tools, Internet Options, and click on the Security Tab. Make sure the Internet is selected at the top of the window then click on the Custom Level button. Scroll down and find a line that says “Display mixed content”. You’ll see three options: Disable / Enable / Prompt. Click and select Enable then click on OK to keep the changes. Warning : this pop-up is designed to let you know that the page you are visiting isn’t secure in case you are doing something that requires security, like a credit card purchase. If you disable this pop-up you need to use caution and check for IE’s “lock” icon (indicating the page is secure) before entering any confidential information.
